My Makeup Routine

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love makeup. I could sit for hours on Youtube watching beauty bloggers like Casey Holmes, Tati etc. and be totally content. I am no expert and for sure am no professional. But, I have learned a lot and have found products I really love that work so well for me that I wanted to share them with you!

I have two different types of makeup routines. One is my easy morning go to when I want to look like I have my life together but really it only takes me 10 minutes start to finish. Then I have my going out or my “I want this to last” look that doesn’t take too much longer, but uses better, longer lasting products!

I’m going to start out by describing my skin so you can compare yours to mine and see if these products will work for you! I am pale-skinned. More of a neutral/cool tone. My face does get oily especially around my nose and forehead. I have breakouts more often than not and do have some scarring/redness in between my eyebrows and cheeks. My breakouts are mostly stress induced and some are hormonal but I don’t suffer too badly from acne or blackheads. I have larger pores on my nose and cheeks and fine lines on my forehead but other than that, my skin is mostly predictable and easy to manage.

10 Minute Makeup:

For my quick morning makeup routine, I use a total of 7 products: a tinted moisturizer, concealer, banana powder, bronzer an eye shadow palette, *sometimes liquid eyeliner and mascara.

Tinted Moisturizer:

This product is the priciest of them all but it has been worth every penny. I use Perricone MD’s High Potency Classics Face Finishing & Firming Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30. This retails for $69 so for sure a splurge, but it leaves my face glowing and helps my skin tone to even out. You can find this at Ulta. If this is too pricey for you, you can also use a regular face moisturizer with sunscreen and mix in a light coverage foundation.

Concealer:

Because a tinted moisturizer is lighter coverage, I like to use a light coverage concealer to help mask my under eye darkness and blemishes. Using a full coverage concealer on a light coverage foundation base will leave you looking uneven and cakey. My go to for light coverage concealer is Maybelline’s Superstay Better Skin Concealer in number 2. It retails for $4.99 and you can find it at Target, Walmart, or a local drugstore. This gives me just enough coverage under the eyes to even out my skin while also brightening.

Banana Powder:

I use banana powder to seal in all the areas I put my concealer. I currently use Essence’s Brighten Up Banana Powder. This retails for $4.99 and you can find this at Ulta. If you have pale skin like me, even when you’re tan banana powder will turn concealer more orange. I don’t mind that especially when using it here because it helps keep that concealer in place, but also starts to blend it out a little better to still lighten, but also become closer to the tinted moisturizers color.

Bronzer:

I use the bronzer of all bronzers. The Physician's Formula Butter Bronzer is my go. to. every single day. It smells amazing, is so soft and buildable, but it also blends out like no other. I use this stuff in the winter - that’s how great it is. A lot of bronzers on my skin look super orange. Not this beauty. You can get this at Target or Ulta - at Target it shows as $8.99 and I believe I paid about $11.99 at Ulta but it is so worth it.

Eye Shadow Palette:

I have been living for the Colourpop I Think I Love You palette. This retails for $16.00 and has all the essentials I love. I use Rowdy (a warm ivory) all over my lid to set and then Bel Air (a matte cool taupe) in my crease to give my eyes some dimension. This is just an easy eye look to make me look awake and put together.

Liquid Eyeliner:

I use Wet n Wild’s Megaliner H2O Proof Liquid Eyeliner in brown. This retails for $3 and you can get it at Target. I lightly line the top of my lid as close to my lash line as possible. I end it with a very light straight wing that is barely noticable.

Mascara:

I use my tried and true Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara in blackest black. I love this mascara. It never clumps, it goes on smooth and lasts me all day. The waterproof is water. proof. and takes a while to get off so I tend to stray away from that version. This retails for $8.99 and is available at Target or Ulta!

Full Face of Makeup:

Foundation:

When I am going for a full coverage look, my newest and truest foundation is Makeup Revolution’s Conceal & Define Full Coverage Foundation. Y’ALL. This stuff WORKS. I did not know what to expect when I first bought this. I had heard a lot of good things but sometimes my skin just doesn’t want to work with some products. If you like matte, full coverage foundation, this is for you. Even if you don’t love matte finishes when it comes to foundations, there are ways to make this look dewy. But it is MATTE. Like, immediately. It dries down so perfectly and if you set your whole face the right way, this will last all day and not ONCE look cakey. And the best part??? This stuff is $12.99. TWELVE DOLLARS. You can purchase through Makeup Revolution’s website or at Ulta. I am currently using F7 but I know once I start to lose my tan, i’ll have to get a new shade.

Concealer:

I, of course, use Tarte Shape Tape Concealer when doing my full coverage makeup look. This concealer is worth the hype and the money. This concealer is THICK and you really do only need to use a little to go a long way. I also blend out with a beauty blender (I will feature below) and it just helps make this concealer look seamless. This also for some reason blends so well with a lot of products so you really cannot go wrong with it. This retails for $27 and you can purchase through Tarte or Ulta. I am using the shade fair at the moment but sometimes will go to fair/neutral and even porcelain depending on the time of year.

Contour/Blush:

I found this palette at Burlington a while ago and absolutely love it. The highlighters are bomb, the blushes are so cute, and the bronzer.contour shades are perfect especially if you have paler skin. Now, I couldn’t find it anywhere but Amazon for online purchasing, but check you local Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Burlington etc. because you can get this for less than $10. My palette is white on the outside and is the Profusion Blush and Bronzer Palette. It does come with brushes too which were actually pretty nice that I use with this daily.

Highlight Powder:

I will occasionally brighten up under my eyes with KKW’s Brightening Powder. I love this stuff. It truly works and helps brighten just a little more under your eyes. I use shade 1 in this! It retails for $18 and you can get it at kkwbeauty.com.

Eyeshadow:

There are a few palettes I like to use with the colourpop palette. First is Profusion’s Naturals palette that you can get at Target for $10. I also use Anastasia’s Modern Renaissance palette from Ulta for $42. The Naked Heat palette is also a fave to add a little fire to a look that you ca purchase at Ulta for $54.

Highlight:

I use only Smashbox/Casey Holmes spotlight palette in Pearl. It is the perfect buildable highlight that you can make somewhat subtle but also beaming depending on your mood. This is $35 at Ulta.
