2018 Hopes + Goals!
HAPPY 2018! How exciting is the beginning of the new year?! Something about it makes me want to revamp my whole life and attitude - start fresh and clean!
Also for some of us, HAPPY WEDDING YEAR!!! For me, 2018 means marrying the man of my dreams and starting our new life together! Like I said, a new year means new ambitions and I wanted to share with you all my 2018 Hopes + Goals!
My number one goal for this year is to really jump start this blog. I can't tell you how amazing these last 3 months have been. I have had my trying days where I really felt I was writing this just for myself & that no one was actually reading it. But then I get little messages from you guys saying thanks or that it is helping you out in your wedding planning and I can't even begin to tell you the fire that starts under me! My fiance asked when I started this blog what I would consider a success and to me, that was helping at least one person. I just wanted this blog to help one person in their wedding planning and life, and to me, that would mean my blog was successful. Y'all reaching out and letting me know you loved a post or my page in general has surpassed that goal for me and really makes me feel like i'm doing something right. So, in 2018, I want to make this blog everything I've dreamed of. I'm hoping to incorporate some video footage too of different experiences we go on etc. I love being able to share this exciting time with you all and thank you for still following along!
My second goal this year is to be better with saving money. Bleh. I make this goal every year and can never seem to follow through with it. I think knowing now that Justin and I have a wedding to pay for, an apartment to find and rent, and all the other expenses that come with being married ahead of us, i'll be just a little bit better with my spending habits. Not that I have uncontrollable spending habits but ya girl loves clothes and shoes and sometimes sales emails get the best of me (and those dreaded "This deal won't last long!" emails- get me every time). This year especially will be difficult for saving money because of all the travelling we will be doing but I have to stop making excuses! If I can save in 2018 with all the things going on, I can save forever!
Goal number three is to remember to slow down and really appreciate the things happening this year. We are SO busy. Bridal showers, bachelorette and bachelor parties, I turn the big 25, weddings, holidays - so many amazing, happy, lovely things happening not just for us, but our friends, too! But with being so busy, I tend to forget to stop, look around, and soak it all in. We are going to be surrounded by so much love and happiness this year and I want to be able to look back and remember as much as I can. Everyone says that the time between your engagement and wedding may seem like a long time day to day, but once the wedding gets here, it'll feel like no time has passed at all - that you won't believe how quickly the time has gone by and in the blink of an eye, it's over. I can't wait for our wedding day, but before then there are also other great things. I want to try and be more patient and present.
My fourth and final goal for the year is to give back in any way I can. With all these wonderful things going on in my own life, I know that isn't the case for many others. I want to stay humble and give back some of the blessings I am being gifted. I want to try and volunteer, donate more to others, pay it forward more than I have. I think it's really important to give what you can, especially in the moments when you can. We will be taking a lot this year from others, not in just a monetary or gift giving way. A lot of people are giving us their time and attention, too. I've never been able to give back to others what I wish I could. But I want to make it a goal to do that, at least once a month, if not more this year.
