Our Weekend in Gatlinburg + OUR ENGAGEMENT PICTURES!

When I first started writing this post, I was going to tell you about all of the awful things that happened to us on our trip to Gatlinburg/North Carolina this weekend leading up to our engagement photos. But as I started writing, all I wanted to do was get to the good part because the good part was just SO GOOD that it overshadowed every bad experience we had. So, instead of telling you about our awful hotel experience, the crazy things that happened to us in Gatlinburg on Saturday, and our even bumpier ride up to Max Patch Mountain, i'm going to tell you about all the amazing things that made this trip, and our photos, so amazing.

After a long, sleepless night in our hotel Friday, we woke up Saturday, got ready for the day, and headed out to explore the Parkway in Gatlinburg. After we had breakfast, we decided to go on a quick ski lift ride to see the mountains and I am so glad we did. It was so quiet and peaceful and the VIEW from up there was breathtaking. There is nothing more gorgeous than seeing the Smoky Mountains in the fall. I took the photo below on our way back down - it does the view no justice but in person, it was stunning.

After our ride, we stopped at a Mexican restaurant for a quick margarita + mojito, and we got to spend just a little more time relaxing with one another and enjoying the amazing view. We left Gatlinburg around 2 PM and headed to Max Patch Mountain. The drive is about an hour and a half long and it was definitely a rocky, winding ride, but once you got to the top, it was worth everything.

We arrived to the top of the mountain around 4 PM and there we met Asher to start our photos. This place was absolutely BEAUTIFUL. First, we went down into the trees to take some photos and get comfortable in front of the camera (we NEVER get our pictures taken, so it is definitely a weird experience at first). But after a minute, we all warmed up and walked over to a beautiful pond and took some pictures there, too. Justin and I were having so much fun laughing and joking around and Asher knew exactly what to tell us to make every single picture come out perfect.

We moved on to the mountain next which, if you've never been there before (you should if you haven't), it isn't a terrible hike, but it's just a really steep, open trail up to the top. It does, however,  take the wind right out of you. Half way up the mountain, we took some pictures in an open field to rest, then finished the hike. Once we got to the top though, we completely forgot how out of breath we were because the view completely takes your breath away. 360 degree views of the mountains. The weather was perfect, the sunset was amazing, and we shot some more photo's before calling it a day before the sun went down fully (we still had to make it back down the mountain). Here are some pictures I took of the place:

I don't think Justin and I could rave more about Asher and his way of making you feel so comfortable, you not only forget he's there, but also all the people around you. We left the mountain with the biggest smiles on our faces and the comfort of knowing everything we had gone through leading up to that point was well worth it all. On our way home, Asher sent a few photos for us to check out and they were the biggest tease because they were just magnificent. Knowing we would have to wait a week to get them all back was killer, but I knew would be worth waiting for. We got home Saturday night and went straight to bed - so exhausted from barely sleeping the night before and the long drive back home.

We woke up on Saturday to a text from Asher asking us to check our photo link one more time and to our surprise, all of our pictures were there. Less than 24 hours since they were taken, he edited them all in the wee hours of the morning because he was so excited to get them done. The pure joy and gratitude we felt was unreal. And the photos?!? Breathtaking. Unimaginable. Completely exceeded my expectations. We not only got the most astonishing engagement photos, but we also walked away with an incredible new friend. We couldn't have picked a better person to shoot our engagement photos and wedding. I will cherish these pictures from now to forever and have no clue how we're going to choose just one for our save the dates.

If you're looking for a wedding photographer, PLEASE check out Asher and Emily Photography. I'm linking them again because I truly cannot rave about them or recommend them more. They have the greatest hearts and we are truly so lucky!

(I'm still crying over each and every one). This weekend was another weekend that proved how everything will work out for you if the situation is right. From the weather, to the location, all the way down to our outfits - everything I had been stressing over turned out the way it should have and it's a great testament to mine and Justin's relationship. Everything feels so right and is exactly the way it should be. I am so thankful for him and his love and our little life together. Only 320 days until he is finally my husband! This wedding planning journey has been simply perfect so far & I can't wait to see how these last 320 days treat us.

Love always,
